There’s an argument that white people look the same to them too. Because we’re trained from birth to be able to tell the people around us apart, which is less useful for difference races with different faces.
You could argue the
designed by Apple in California
iPhone may suffer the same drawback. Designed by white people, with the facial recognition trained by white people on other white people.
My buddies used to exploit that theory when we were younger. They’d always try to buy cigarettes from the Asian-owned convenience stores since they’d struggle to tell we were 16.
I’m sorry for ruining your memeing with this wall of text

I totally understand, I get ID’d all the time at the liquor store as well, even though I’m 30+
And you’re kind of supporting my view about how biometrics are insecure.

They are twins separated at birth, and don’t know it.

Kind of an anecdote, but my Chinese teacher in high school, who is from Harbin in NE China, told us that white people generally look the same to Chinese people.

I can tell black Arab or Indian people apart pretty easily. And the story supports that it’s not just what we’re used to seeing

Actually I think maybe this is an American thing. Our law is 18 rather than 21, it’s probably easier to tell an under-18 than it is an under-21. The guideline for retailers is to ask for ID if the buyer looks under 25.

Most of our establishments say “if you appear under 40” on their signs. So it can get offensive when you don’t get asked...
Also, we have a lot of undercover agents who can levy huge fines on stores. People can lose their jobs over it, but that’s rare.
Usually it depends on the age and experience of the clerk.

My wife and I turn 34 next year, carded nearly every time.

As a side note, I was one of those agents a couple times, and got a place busted that was near a school once . It was the proudest moment of my 14 year old life.
